There are ways to use armies from different campaigns in the same battle, but as the factions are intended to be balanced for the campaign they come from it can mean factions and units are heavily under or overpowered. It is by fighting this way that leaders have earned their places: as champions. If I wanted to have a Rise of the Republic multiplayer battle between Samnites and Tarchuna, I'd select Rise of the Republic from the drop down menu, then each player would pick the faction they wanted to play. When you're setting up a battle you choose which campaign you're fighting this battle in using the drop down menu (usually says Grand Campaign by default,) then pick the armies.Į.g. Total War: Rome 2s first playable faction has been revealed as the Romans and SEGA has said more factions will be revealed in the 'coming weeks and months.'
